Automated AF tools use a simple license model designed to protect the integrity of the files while keeping day-to-day usage frictionless.

This page explains how licensing works, what to expect when opening a licensed file, and how to resolve common license-related issues.


How Licensing Works

Each product license allows use on a limited number of machines, depending on the license tier purchased.

When the file is opened:

  • The tool checks whether the machine is already authorized

  • If authorized, full functionality is enabled

  • If not, access may be limited based on license availability

Licensing is enforced locally within the file. No cloud login or subscription is required.


License Limits

License limits are based on the tier selected at purchase (for example, single user or small team).

Once the maximum number of machines has been activated:

  • Additional machines will open the file in read-only mode

  • Editing and saving changes will be disabled

This ensures existing users are not interrupted.


Read-Only Mode

If a file opens in read-only mode, you may still:

  • View all worksheets and reports

  • Review formulas and outputs

  • Validate results

You will not be able to:

  • Edit data

  • Refresh calculations

  • Save changes

Read-only mode is intended for review and audit access, not active use.


Moving a License to a New Machine

If you replace a computer or need to move a license:

  • Contact support with the product name and order email

  • We can reset or transfer the activation as appropriate

This process is manual to prevent accidental license loss or misuse.


Excel Security Warnings

Some Automated AF tools include protected features such as macros or Power Query logic.

On first open, Excel may display security prompts.
To ensure full functionality:

  • Enable editing

  • Enable content when prompted

If content is not enabled, calculations and automation may not run.
